Hi I’m Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show.
Today’s mistake is:

　今日のよくあるミスは、これです。

　　I play snowboarding.

You can’t say: I play snowboarding. Instead you can say: I go snowboarding or I snowboard.
Why is this a mistake? Why is it OK to say: I play tennis, but not OK to say: I play snowboarding?
Well, different sports take different verbs, such as: play, do or go.
Here are some examples:

　I play snowboardingとは言いません。　正しくはI go snowboarding、またはI snowboard です。
　なぜこれがミステイクなのでしょうか？　なぜI play tennis が正しくて、I play snowboarding は間違っているのでしょうか？
　答えはスポーツによって使う動詞が異なり、play、do、goを使うからです。
　いくつか例文を作ってみました。

　play hockey
　play baseball

　do aerobics
　do karate

　go surfing
　go skateboarding

Kia Ora, in Stick News today, Hillary Clinton has said her recent story about dodging bullets in Bosnia was a misstatement.

　ボスニアで弾丸を避けたと言う、最近のヒラリー・クリントンの発言、実は誤った話でした。

Hillary Clinton wants to be the next president of the United States of America.
Last week she gave a speech and talked about her experience visiting Bosnia in 1996.
She said: "I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."
It turns out the story is not true.
Clinton has now acknowledged this. She says she misspoke and it was a minor blip.
“If I said something that, you know, I say a lot of things - millions of words a day - so if I misspoke it was just a misstatement."

　ヒラリー・クリントンはアメリカ合衆国の次期大統領を狙っています。
　先週、彼女は講演で1996年に訪れたボスニアについて話しました。
　曰く、「私たちが空港に降り立つと、狙撃兵が撃ってきました。　空港では歓迎セレモニーがあるはずでしたが、その代わりに私たちは、頭を下げながら走って車の中に乗り込み、基地へ逃げる羽目になりました。」
　この話、事実と異なっていました。
　ヒラリー・クリントンはこれを認め、それは失言であり小さなミスだとしました。
　「もし私がそのような発言をしたならば、、、私は毎日たくさん多くのことを話しますので、失言があったならば、それは単なる誤った発言です。」

Oh, so she’s an actor now?
　ってことはブリトニーは今、女優なの？

Sarah
Mmm, I don’t know, maybe it was just a one off thing.
　分からないけど、たぶん今回だけかも。

Tony
What kind of show was it?
　どんな番組？

Sarah
Just like a typical American sitcom.
　ただの典型的なアメリカのシットコム。

Tony
Like Friends or something?
　フレンズみたいな？

Sarah
Yeah, like that.
　そう、そんな感じ。

Tony
How was her acting?
　彼女の演技はどうだった？

Sarah
I thought she was pretty good – for that kind of acting. She was just playing, like, a ditzy girl ... so it’s probably not that hard.
　あーゆー演技としては、けっこう良かったと思うよ。　キャピキャピ・ガール役だったから、それほど難しくないでしょう。
