And from what I read, this is what I would callrugby head fashion in New Zealand. Or just conservative and very boring, in my opinion, but, you know, each to their own … some other people would probably call it classy and stylish.
One interesting thing to study about this conversation is how the woman reacts when the guy suggests buying an item of clothing that she doesn’t really like. Instead of directly saying she doesn’t like it, she suggests something else.
This is what she says:Well, I mean, it’s winter so maybe you want something warmer, like a pea coat.
I’d never heard of a pea coat before, by the way. Apparently it’s a style of coat that was originally worn by sailors of European navies.
Kia ora in Stick News today a pink dolphin has been discovered swimming in a lake in the United States.
Dolphins are marine mammals which come in various sizes and colours – but not usually pink. A bright pink dolphin is now living in a lake in Louisiana According to news reports the dolphin is an albino and is the world’s only pink Bottlenose dolphin. The man who originally saw the dolphin said it appeared to be healthy and normal other than its coloration, which he said was quite beautiful and stunningly pink. A senior biologist said: "I have never seen a dolphin coloured in this way in all my career.” People have been warned to respect the dolphin and not to chase it or harass it.
And that was Stick News for Tuesday the 3rd of March. Kia ora.

Are there many differences between students from different countries?
A lot of the Australians that I’ve been teaching do a lot of sports back home. So we tend to find that people who do other sports can usually pick up, pick it up a little bit quicker. Um and they tend to, Australians tend to pick it up a bit quicker, dare I say it, than, ah, than the English do. And, um, but ah, also then we’ve got, sort of, people from Hong Kong, Singapore. Ah, a lot of the people, just from my personal experience, all of the people I’ve taught don’t necessarily play too many sports. Um, I know that I was talking to a parent of a child that I was teaching. She tells me that a lot of children over in Hong Kong particularly tend to sit at home and play video games. There’s not as many of them, sort of, going out and playing a lot of sport. Um, so, just in that way it’s sort of, it’s sort of, different. It’s sort of things that we can assume. Like one of the … we talk about, ah … one of the techniques we talk about is peddling, as if you’re riding a bike. And one of the mistakes, that I just assumed, was that all children rode a bike. And there was … I had two … ah, two students I was teaching who’d never, who’d never ridden a bike. You know, just from Hong Kong, they just don’t, just didn’t ride one, you know.

サラのメモ： The subculture definitions are taken from two dictionaries (COD and OALD). These words actually mean many different things to different people so it really depends on who is using them and in what context. I suggest reading the definitions in Urban Dictionary if youre interested in finding out more about what these words mean to different people.
