Hi, I’m Sarah, welcome to The Daily English Show.I have a few updates today.
Firstly, I’d just like to say thank you to the people who joined in the live broadcast. We did two q and a sessions on Ustream
. And I enjoyed it. It was good to get a bit of feedback from people and get some new ideas too.
We’re now thinking about doing it regularly some time in the future. And we might try out some different sites too.
The next piece of news is, we’re about to have another break. With Easter coming up, we thought it was about time we had a bit of a break. And this isn’t the last show before the break, there’s still a few more shows.
We’ve decided to take a month off from making the show to have a bit of a holiday – but mostly to work on the business side of things.
We’re looking for new sponsors and other forms of funding and it’s hard to work on that and produce the show at the same time. So we’ll take a month off and hopefully everything will go brilliantly well and we’ll be able to come back and just focus on making the show which is what I enjoy the most.
And when we come back after the break we have something exciting to introduce. That is our new couch! We found it the other day on an auction site … and it’s not yellow, unfortunately, but it was the right size and shape, and we could always find some kind of yellow sheet or some cover of some sort to put over it.
And speaking of our ever-changing set and studio … if you’re ever in Hakodate in Hokkaido, in Japan, or if you’re there now, please go and visit Dekoboko Bar
and you’ll be able to see the picture that used to be used at the start of The Daily English Show. It’s hanging on the wall
there, so it’s very cool that a piece of The Daily English Show history lives on in Hokkaido. If you go there please take a photo and send it to me or send me the link.
For the last 32 years a British magazine called The Bookseller
has held an annual contest for the oddest book title.
The winner for 2009 was a book called: Crocheting Adventures with Hyperbolic Planes.
An editor from the magazine said he thought the title won because it was completely bonkers.
And that was Stick News for Monday the 29th of March.

conversations with sarah
I visited a TV show the other day.
Really? Were you a guest?
No, I was in the audience.
How did you get to do that?
What kind of show was it?
It was a media commentary show. There’s a host and three guests and they just talk about some media issues. And there was another show being filmed after that which was about ads, and so we stayed for that one too. It was fun.
